Biography
A native of London, England, Annie
Hoffman has lived and worked in Southern California for many
years, currently residing in Santa Barbara. After taking many
undergraduate art classes at both UCLA and Santa Monica College,
she spent a year studying at the classical art 'Academie Notre
Dame des Champs' in Paris. Upon her return to Los Angeles in
1995 she resolved to become a serious and dedicated oil painter.
She subsequently studied over the
next 4 years with Lance Richlin, an 'old master' style figure
and portrait painter, and then Sharon Burkett-Kaiser, a well-known
California Impressionist, herself a student of the legendary
20th century Russian Impressionist Sergei Bongart. Hoffman then
studied another 7 years with the Chinese Master Impressionist,
Jove Wang.
Ms. Hoffman, the winner of the
Santa Barbara Maritime Museum Curators Choice Award in 2021 and
1st place at the Westlake Village Artists Guild 2022 while participating
in other group shows and solo exhibits throughout California.
