Nancy
Davidson was fortunate to have
been born and raised in Santa Barbara,
a paradise for any landscape artist.
After studying at Santa Barbara City College, UCSB and the famed
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Nancy
has concentrated on depicting the beautiful local beaches of
her hometown.
Nancy comments, "Some people say there is a strong sense
of calm in my beach paintings. Although it's not necessarily
what I set out to capture, I think it happens as a byproduct
of the art-making process which requires complete concentration.
It is almost meditative and reflects how
I feel when I am there."
While her subject matter is traditional,
her strong sense of design and color add
a modern vitality.
Three of her paintings are part of the Ritz-Carlton Bacara art
collection and are on view in the main lobby. |
