Annie’s Biography

A native of London, England, Annie Hoffman has lived and worked in Southern California for many years, currently residing in Santa Barbara. After taking many undergraduate art classes at both UCLA and Santa Monica College, she spent a year studying at the classical art academy Académie Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Paris. Upon her return to Los Angeles in 1995, she resolved to become a serious and dedicated oil painter.

She subsequently studied over the next four years with Lance Richlin, an "old master" style figure and portrait painter, and then Sharon Burkett-Kaiser, a well-known California Impressionist, herself a student of the legendary 20th-century Russian Impressionist Sergei Bongart. Hoffman then studied for another seven years with the Chinese master impressionist Jove Wang.

Ms. Hoffman won the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum Curators' Choice Award in 2021 and First Place at the Westlake Village Artists Guild in 2022, while also participating in other group shows and solo exhibits throughout California.
